Probaris helps SSA to come into HSPD-12 compliance

Published 21 August 2006

Federal agencies and contractors working with these agencies have until 27 October to comply with various HSPD-12 mandates, chief among them FIPS-201; the SSA is no exception, and it is relying on Probaris for help

Federal agencies and the contractors working with them have a 27 October deadline to come into compliance with HSPD-12-mandated security measures, and more and more companies offering HSPD-12-compliance solutions benefit. The latest is Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based Probaris, which had its contract with the Social Security Administration (SSA) extended. The contract calls for Probaris to support the agency’s efforts to implement a HSPD-12 solution. The SSA has licensed the Probaris enterprise web platform, Probaris SP, and has engaged the company’s professional services team. The contract was awarded through Probaris’ GSA Federal Supply Schedule 70 (GS-35F-0853R) under SIN 132-62 for HSPD-12 Products and Services.

The Probaris team will help SSA implement various HSPD-12 mandates, among them FIPS 201-required automatic generation of unique identification numbers for PIV credentials. Probaris’s SP/PIV, which is a commercially available software, serves as the integration hub for the technology components needed to produce a PIV compliant identity credential.
