ObjectVideo to offer new scanning technology to CBP
This leader in video analytics already has many contracts in government and the private sector, and is now about to deploy its latest technology to help the U.S. border patrol monitor U.S. borders more effectively
Reston, Virginia-based ObjectVideo, a major player in intelligent video, says it has developed and is now testing its new scanning camera technology for border applications for the Homeland Security Advanced Research Project Agency (HSARPA). U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) already deploys some intelligent video capabilities on the northern and southern borders of the United States, and the work by ObjectVideo represents two contracts totaling $3.2 million from HSARPA to bolster these capabilities. HSARPA contracted with ObjectVideo to enhance intelligent video surveillance systems on the border with the ability to detect and alert objects of interest from constantly scanning cameras. This capability is useful at the U.S. borders, where stationary cameras have only a limited field-of-view. The company says that its next-generation scanning technology requires fewer cameras, as the customer’s intelligent video-equipped cameras can now monitor larger areas more efficiently and accurately.
ObjectVideo technology is already deployed in more than eighty U.S. border locations at ports-of-entry through an existing CBP contract. The company has a long list of clients for its technology, among them the Department of Defense, the U.S. Air Force and Navy, the Department of Energy, and more than thirty commercial airports and seaports.
