North Dakota receives $10 million for border security
To help secure the U.S.— Canada border, North Dakota will receive more than $9.6 million in DHS grants; the funds are aimed at helping local law enforcement agencies prevent a terrorist attack, secure the border, and bolster emergency preparedness
To help secure the U.S.– Canada border, North Dakota will receive more than $9.6 million in DHS grants.
The funds are aimed at helping local law enforcement agencies prevent a terrorist attack, secure the border, and bolster emergency preparedness.
Of the money, more than $5 million comes from the State Homeland Security Grant Program which is designed to address organizational, equipment, and training needs at the state and local levels to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism and other catastrophic events.
Meanwhile nearly $3 million in funding comes from the Emergency Management Performance Grant Program to assist state, local, and tribal governments in preparing comprehensive emergency preparedness systems for all hazards.
Griggs County alone will receive almost $1 million through the Emergency Operations Center Grant Program to support strategically located emergency operations centers designed to boost emergency management and preparedness.
In addition under Operation Stonegarden several counties including Bottineau, Burke, and Cavalier will receive a total of $526,949 to strengthen coordination between local, tribal, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to secure the U.S. border.
