Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics team up for HSPD-12 venture
Companies will offer cash-strapped agencies ability to purchase compliance on a “per card” basis; venture joins Lockheed’s BioUnique framework to General Dynamic’s MobileID enrollment services
Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) were among the first companies credentialed by the General Services Administration (GSA) as HSPD-12 integrators. No surprise there, of course. Both are veterans in the government identification game, Lockheed as the lead integrator for the FBI’s Integrated Automated Fingerprint Indentification System and as access control provider for the Registered Traveler program. General Dynamics, for its part, has supported the Department of Defense’s Common Access Card (CAC) and the Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
The two joined forces this week to offer federal agencies a new HSPD-12 credentialing service aimed at bringing cost-sensitive agencies into compliance by offering them credentials on a “per-card” basis, rather than having to purchase an entire credentialing system. As part of the deal, Lockheed Martin will supply its BioUnique framework for identity management, while General Dynamics will provide its MobileID enrollment and associated services, including mobile operations and scheduling, as well as card issuance and training. The companies did not indicate what volume of revenue they expect to generate through the program.
