DHS will be conducting its largest training event of the year next week in Butlerville, Indiana.
The Indianapolis Star notes the event will be held at Muscatatuck Urban Training Center, a 960-acre facility with 300 training structures.
The center is typically used for simulations of both man-made and natural disasters for the U.S. military, U.S. State Department, and U.S. Department of Defense.
The event will involve 5,500 people from twenty-three states, and will start next Monday.
The drill will test and evaluate the preparedness of the U. S. military’s response to a man-made nuclear detonation.
“Testing and preparing military members to respond is part of our mission,” Lisa Kopczynski, MUTC public affairs officer told the Star. “We’re providing a realistic environment to really test the abilities, skills and deployment of these units.”
