Massive overhaul of U.S. immigration services planned

The Bush administration has launched a massive overhaul of the U.S. troubled immigration services agency, tapping an IBM-led industry consortium to re-invent the way government workers help immigrants obtain visas, seek citizenship and get approval to work in the United States. The contract was awarded this week, and it is the largest federal homeland security bid on the market, includes a $14.5 million, 90-day assessment period with options over five years worth $491.1 million, and a ceiling value of up to $3.5 billion if Congress approves a broad overhaul of the nation’s immigration laws that unleashes a flood of applications for legal status or other actions.

USDA awards CRI $50 Million counter-terrorism and security support services contract

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has awarded McLean, Virginia-based Communications Resource, Inc. (CRI) a follow-on contract to CRI for continued support to USDA’s Office of Security Services. CRI will provide Homeland Security and counter-terrorism expertise.

Unisys wins DHS contract

Unisys Corp. has been awarded a $1.4 million task order to provide secure e-mail and identity management services for the 18,000 employees of Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. The Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, information-technology company was awarded the task order under the Enterprise Acquisition Gateway for Leading Edge (EAGLE) Solutions contract. DHS selected Unisys to be a prime contractor for two categories of that contract in 2006. The amount of money it will receive from that designation will depend on the number of task orders it wins. The task order covers the first phase of the Baseline Automation Support Infrastructure for Citizenship Services and will be completed over sixteen months.

European intrusion detection market - what are the future trends?

Frost & Sullivan will host analyst briefing on European intrusion detection markets on Thursday, 13 November 2008 at 15.00 GMT. The year 2007 in Europe witnessed a slow but steady growth in the intrusion detection market. The level of growth across different applications varies; every market participant is trying to bolster its position by bringing out feature-rich products. This, combined with the increasing popularity of wireless technology, supports the belief that the intrusion detection industry is poised for a considerable growth in the coming years.
