GE Security claims its EDS is the world’s most widely deployed inline checked baggage explosives screening solution; it is certainly popular at Middle East airports
GE Security, a business of GE Enterprise Solutions (NYSE: GE), said its Homeland Protection business has sold and delivered two CTX 9000 DSi explosives detection systems (EDS) to Abu Dhabi International Airport. The CTX 9000 purchase is but the latest example of GE Security’s strong sales in the Middle East, where the company’s CT-based inline baggage screening devices are popular. “Abu Dhabi International Airport is one of the highest volume airports in the Middle East,” said Dennis Cooke, president and CEO, GE Security’s Homeland Protection business. “Adoption of our advanced technology CTX EDS underscores the airport’s commitment to ensuring its travelers benefit from the latest and most effective security technologies. It also reflects a growing global trend toward the adoption of CT-based EDS as the solution of choice for checked bag screening.”
The company claims that the CTX 9000 DSi is the world’s most widely deployed inline checked baggage explosives screening solution. It i also the flagship of GE Security’s multi-generational product plan for EDS. The CTX 9000 has a meter-wide conveyor belt and large tunnel opening that can accommodate both large and standard-size bags.
